Job Description
Purpose of the role
To conduct the accurate and timely valuation of financial instruments, and establishment of valuation methodologies, monitoring of market conditions, and provision of valuation insights to support financial reporting, risk management, and business decisions.
Accountabilities
* Development and maintenance of valuation methodologies for various financial instruments, and implementation of appropriate valuation models based on the characteristics of the financial instruments and market conditions.
* Management of valuation process for the bank's trading portfolio, including regular valuations of financial instruments and approval of valuations performed by colleagues.
* Analysis of market data to assess valuation inputs, assumptions, and potential valuation risks.
* Preparation and review of valuation reports, and support in preparing regulatory filings and financial statements.
* Provision of valuation insights to traders, risk professions and senior colleagues, and identification of areas for improvement in valuation methodologies and processes.

As a Valuation Control Analyst, you will support the Independent Price Verification (IPV) process across trading portfolios, helping to ensure valuations are accurate and well controlled. Your day-to-day work will include reviewing valuation movements, assisting with the investigation of pricing differences, and helping to track and raise issues where needed. You will work alongside teams in Front Office, Risk, Model Validation, Market Data, and Technology to learn how valuation, models, and data are used across the business, while gaining hands-on experience within a Valuation Control environment.
The role provides valuable exposure to financial products, valuation concepts, and regulatory requirements across different asset classes. You will have the opportunity to build technical knowledge, develop communication and stakeholder interaction skills, and gain an understanding of how Finance, Risk, and the Front Office work together. This experience will help lay the foundation for future progression into risk, finance, control functions, or other analytical roles within the organisation.
To be considered for this role, you will have:
* A technical and analytical mindset, with a willingness to learn and develop your skills further
* Currently studying towards, or have already gained, a professional finance qualification
* Basic knowledge or exposure to programming languages such as Python, R, or C++, with an interest in applying them in a financial context
