Job Description:
The Shared Infrastructure (SI) Engineering Manager (EM) leads the overall engineering management of the design, development, integration and support activities of teams working on deployment of the T45 and QEC programmes
This delivery focused role involves leading the team through the integration phase of the programme, incorporating change and taking that through factory testing and delivery. This also involves the support of operational ships, including investigation of defects found on ship and at the Land Based Integration facility, organising ship support where necessary and producing rectification plans for any defect clearance.
Core duties:
* Engineering Management of Combat Systems SI deliveries to T45 and QEC
* Providing support to operational ships including responding to OpDefs
* Acting as the conduit to resolve technical issues across the SI teams
* Liaising with other combat System Product Teams to ensure adherence and cross-project benefits where possible
Essential Skills:
* Degree qualified in a STEM related discipline as well as registered as Chartered Engineer/Chartered Personnel Development professional or working towards
* Experience managing complexity, risks and uncertainty in complex engineering projects
* Experience of delivering to cost and schedule a complex engineering project
* Previous experience leading or coaching a team as well as managing stakeholders at various levels both internally and externally
The Shared Infrastructure Team:
The SI team supports the infrastructure solution for the Royal Navy (RN) across the Fleet supporting Ship's Mission Systems. This role specifically looks after the T45 and QEC classes of operational ship developing capabilities as well as supporting them operationally.
This is part of the Combat Systems group which provide diverse Mision systems to every ship in the RN Fleet. This role interacts with these system providers as well as external system provider.
The Combat Systems SI team are currently developing the next generation of Infrastructure for all classes which will support the RNs move to a Hybrid Navy. Part of this role will be laying the groundwork for that on T45s and QEC.
