Thales supports the security and stability of our nation by providing extraordinary technology to our customers, as well as delivering social value to the UK with our products and services.

Manufacturing Test Team Leader
4 day working week - Monday to Thursday - 9.25 hours per day

At Thales Underwater Systems our purpose is to be the leading provider of underwater sensors and decision superiority, helping navies across the world keep our friends, families and all of us safe. We cover four sectors: Mine Counter Measures, Anti-Submarine warfare, Services and Future Capabilities.

Our Opportunity
Step into a key leadership role where you'll guide a talented team of assembly, repair, and test technicians, ensuring the seamless production and refurbishment of both customer and development products. You'll champion high standards of quality, precision, and teamwork, helping to deliver exceptional results across every project.
You'll also play a vital part in supporting the Autonomous Production and/or Repair Unit (APRU) Manager-coordinating task distribution, overseeing workflow, and taking ownership of the work carried out across the team to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Main Responsibilities:
* Support delivery of production/repair activities to meet plan, escalating issues impacting Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD).
* Ensure compliance with all production, quality and general processes, including tooling, documentation and reporting.
* Maintain high HS&E standards, ensuring PPE, risk assessments and COSHH requirements are met.
* Lead, develop and support the team through recruitment, performance management, training identification and regular reviews.
* Drive continuous improvement using lean methodologies and ensure availability and calibration of tooling and test equipment.

About You
We're looking for a confident, proactive leader who brings both technical expertise and a people-first mindset to the shop floor. You'll thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and set the tone for quality, safety, and continuous improvement across your team.
You will bring:

* Clear, thoughtful communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships and connect effectively at all levels.
* Experience leading and nurturing teams within a manufacturing or production environment, helping others grow and succeed.
* A proactive and curious approach to improvement, using initiative to identify opportunities and drive positive change.
* Strong organisational awareness and problem-solving skills, underpinned by broad manufacturing knowledge and the ability to balance priorities with care and focus.
* A genuine commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive and high-performing team culture where people feel valued and accountable.

Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. If approved by the MOD, a dual national from a non-ITAR country may be considered.

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years' residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
