About the Role

Technical Program Managers at Mastercard interact with product managers, software development managers, developers, and senior leaders across partner teams in the Product and Engineering organization to deliver complex projects and programs. You will define roadmap deliverables, develop program execution plans, align dependencies, track progress, anticipate risks, provide escalation management, make sound trade-off decisions, and balance business needs versus technical constraints. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. You are expected to be detail-oriented, with a solid technical background and excellent problem-solving skills.

As a Technical Program Manager people manager at Mastercard, you are expected to perform the following general responsibilities:
* Lead a global team of individual contributors who are conceptualizing, rationalizing, and driving multiple simultaneous projects to deliver engineering work
* Drive overall strategy and teams inside and outside of your organization to deliver the expected results
* Develop and communicate a vision that supports the broader departmental and organizational vision
* Maintain deep understanding of the platform, the integration patterns, the organizational capabilities, and the company wide assets that can be leveraged to provide technical solutions to customer problems
* Continuously monitor and analyze key performance indicators on the organization's score card and move them in a positive direction
* Stay on top of tactical execution rigorously inspecting the delivery plans and execution metrics of your TPMs
* Adapt to shifting goals and activities while managing multiple activities in parallel
* Build and cultivate strong internal relationships
* Manage escalations
* Actively encourage the development of your technical staff by guiding, coaching, and mentoring
* Learn performance improvement management and hold team members accountable for performance

All About You
* Experience as a people manager with the ability to attract, recruit, and develop technical talent
* Demonstrated ability to operate with minimal guidance
* Experience with XP, TDD and BDD in the software development processes
* Experience delivering technical programs and knowing where to look to find all the potential landmines
* Proven track record of data driven decision making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams
* Experience in agile delivery methodologies (scrum, Kanban, etc.) and CI/CD
* Ability to communicate to executives, peers, and staff with impact, eloquence, and authenticity
* Bachelor degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology or related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience

Preferred by not required
* Completed Certifications (Agile, PMI, ITIL, DevOps, cloud computing, Java, etc.) preferred, or equivalent work experience
* Experience and proficiency with cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, serverless technology, NoSQL databases), microservice design, near real-time, scalable fault tolerant platform design, API design, and distributed systems operations in a DevOps model

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more. Mastercard benefits for interns generally include: 56 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time; jury duty leave; and on-site fitness facilities in some locations.
