About the Role Insignia Ventures Partners is a Southeast Asia-focused venture capital firm managing a multi-vintage fund stack backed by sovereign wealth funds, university endowments, and institutional family offices across Asia, Europe, and North America. We are looking for a Finance Intern to support our finance team for a minimum of six months. This role is open to students in Year 2 and above pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance, including those on the SIT Integrated Work-Study Programme (IWSP) or equivalent industry attachment schemes. This is a hands-on role, not a shadow programme. The intern will work directly alongside the Finance Director and Senior Fund Accountant on day-to-day fund finance operations, with exposure to real processes across reporting, audit, and compliance. The work is varied, and we expect the intern to contribute meaningfully from early on. We are a close-knit team with a collaborative culture across finance and the wider firm. For the right candidate, this is a strong platform to understand how institutional-grade VC fund finance operates in practice. What You Will Do - Fund operations support: assist with the processing of capital calls, distributions, and management fee calculations, coordinating with the external fund administrator. - Financial reporting: support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including data gathering, reconciliations, and schedule preparation. - Portfolio monitoring: help maintain portfolio company data and assist in compiling materials for the valuation process. - Audit and compliance: assist with audit preparation, document collation, and regulatory filing support across MAS and SEC requirements. - Process improvement: identify manual or repetitive tasks and explore automation and AI tools to improve efficiency - we welcome fresh perspectives on how things can be done better. - General finance support: contribute to ad hoc tasks across the finance function as needed. The Profile We're Looking For Academic background - Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, at Year 2 or above. - Solid grounding in core accounting principles from coursework - understanding of debits, credits, financial statements, and basic IFRS concepts is expected. - Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with data tools or automation platforms is a plus. - Minimum 6 months internship Mindset and approach - Curious and eager to learn: ask questions, seek to understand the 'why' behind tasks, and not just complete them mechanically. - Detail-oriented: take care with numbers and documentation, and flag discrepancies rather than overlook them. - Flexible and practical: adapt readily when priorities shift, take on what needs doing, and not draw a hard line around the job description. - Strong sense of ownership: take end-to-end responsibility for deliverables, follow through without being chased, and flag issues before they escalate. - Collaborative: work well within a small team, communicate proactively, and contribute to a positive working environment. - Tech-forward: interested in how technology and automation can improve finance workflows, and willing to explore and test new tools. - Resourcefulness: Able to find solutions and navigate ambiguity without needing constant supervision What to Expect - Meaningful contribution: contribute to live fund finance processes from day one, with tasks that have direct operational impact. - Direct mentorship: work closely with the Finance Director and Senior Fund Accountant, with regular guidance and feedback throughout the placement. - Exposure to VC fund finance: gain hands-on understanding of fund structures, LP reporting, valuations, and compliance - areas that most accounting graduates only encounter years into their careers. - A collaborative environment: be part of a supportive team that values contribution at every level. - Variable pace: expect busier periods around audit seasons and fund close cycles, and quieter periods focused on process improvement and project work. Application - Students applying under the SIT IWSP or equivalent university internship programmes are welcome and encouraged to apply. Insignia Ventures Partners is an equal opportunity employer. We value diverse backgrounds and perspectives across our team. If interested in applying, reach out to our Finance Director Iris Ho at iris@insignia.vc
