Job Description:

Joining Arup

Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.

The Opportunity

Arup is a UK-headquartered independent firm of Designers, Planners, Engineers, Consultants, and Technical Specialists offering a broad range of professional services. With 90 offices in 35 countries, our 19,000+ staff offer a broad range of professional services and through our work, we make a positive difference in the world.

Working for Arup Technical Specialist Services (TSS) offers the chance to work on exciting projects with a truly collaborative and global team including top experts in their field who are approachable and always happy to help. It's an exciting time to be a part of our growth in Mauritius.

As a Graduate Trainee Environmental & Building Physics Engineer, you'll gain hands-on experience and build a strong technical foundation in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary environment. You'll support a variety of projects-helping to design buildings and spaces that maximise client value while minimising environmental impact-through analysis, design, and computational modelling (including energy modelling and CFD). You'll also contribute to building physics, microclimate and/or wind work by producing calculations, analysis models, feasibility studies and reports, while collaborating with senior team members and the wider UKIMEA Environmental Physics & Wind Practice.

In This Role You Will

* Perform numerical analyses to inform design decisions, including CFD and energy modelling using certified dynamic thermal modelling tools, and help improve workflows through digital tools and automation.
* Build, run and refine physics-based models, applying first-principles methods to solve bespoke challenges and assess local microclimates.
* Produce clear technical outputs (calculations, analysis and reports) and communicate results to the wider project team.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineers to deliver projects to budget and programme, identifying opportunities to add value and reduce cost.
* Develop professionally (CAD, Python/scripting, CPD), work towards relevant registrations/accreditations, and comply with office procedures and legislation.

At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective - in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.

You will have the opportunity do socially useful work that has meaning - to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.

Is this role right for you?

We're Looking For a Candidate Who

* Holds, or is working towards, a first or advanced degree in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering (or another relevant qualification).
* Is highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Has strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well across teams and represent the organisation externally.
* Takes ownership to deliver work on time, maintains high standards, and thinks strategically to develop innovative solutions.
* Remains effective under pressure, managing workload and stakeholder relationships, with strong written English and report-writing skills.
