Job Description:
Intern - Validation and Verification of Turbulence Models Database in Nurnberg (f/md/)
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.
Position overview
As an intern for validation and verification of turbulence models, you will have the opportunity to work directly with the developers and product managers of the Turbulence program for Simcenter STAR-CCM+. You will gain hands-on experience in the field of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and play a key role in enhancing the reliability and accuracy of our simulation solutions. Duration: 9-12 months
Key Responsibility:
* Collect canonical test cases for turbulence verification and validation (V&V), ensuring comprehensive coverage of scenarios and conditions
* Perform tests for all turbulence models available in Simcenter STAR-CCM+, including Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) and scale-resolving models
* Establish an automated testing framework for the V&V database streamlining the testing process
* Prepare consistent post-processing for all considered test cases, ensuring clarity and uniformity in the evaluation and presentation of results
* Document all V&V results in a detailed report, providing insights and recommendations based on findings for future improvements
* Collaborate with development and product management teams
Qualifications:
* You are currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen interest in turbulence modeling and computational fluid dynamics
* Proficient in simulation tools, ideally with experience in Simcenter STAR-CCM+
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* A proactive approach to learning and a willingness to take on challenges independently
* Proficient usage of English
