Your Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Working Student to support ML/AI projects with a focus on building a self-service analytics tool that allows business users to ask questions and receive answers based on our centrally managed Data-as-a-Product (DaaP) framework. You'll help prototype and implement an AI-assisted experience that can retrieve the right governed data and present accurate, explainable insights.

Key responsibilities in your new role

* Keep the overview: Design and develop a self-service analytics prototype that provides answers to user questions based on governed data products, such as metrics, dimensions, and curated datasets
* Take responsibility: Build a retrieval layer to access data through standardized interfaces, ensuring access controls and documentation are respected, and translate business questions into data queries and user-friendly explanations
* Holistic overview: Develop an evaluation approach to assess answer quality, including accuracy, completeness, latency, and user usefulness, and iterate based on feedback to improve the prototype
* Shape the future: Implement features to improve trust in the prototype, such as citing sources, providing clear confidence indicators, and handling ambiguous questions safely, while ensuring compliance with Responsible AI principles
* Data is everything: Collaborate with Data Product Owners and engineers to align with data definitions, semantics, and the data product lifecycle, and support security, privacy, transparency, and human oversight checks for AI-generated content

Your Profile

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed

* Study field: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Data Science, AI/ML, or a related field
* Experience: Hands-on experience with Python and data tooling (pandas, notebooks, APIs)
* Knowledge: Solid foundation in SQL and data modeling concepts (metrics, dimensions, joins, aggregation)
* Skills: Familiarity with ML/AI concepts (information retrieval, NLP, or ML pipelines); practical project experience is a plus
* Way of working: Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholder
* Language skills: Fluent in English. German is a plus
