Description:

* The intern will assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group in establishing "best practice" guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance, and analysis results for various equipment (Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray, etc.).

* The intern will document the capabilities and limitations of the current equipment as well as research recommendations for future purchases.

The qualified intern should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

* Assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group interview customers for analysis needs.

* Perform sample preparation for future analysis.

* Conduct analysis using lab equipment.

* Document results, including recommendations based on conversations with the customer.

* Research, evaluate, and document equipment capabilities, limitations, and costs.

* Create "best practice" guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance topics, and analysis results based on current lab equipment.

* Merge measurement analysis with non-destructive equipment results (X-Ray and CT Scan).

* Provide long-term business case strategy for future replacement financial planning.

* Work with ADM (Laboratory report documenting system).

* Utilize PQM (Problem Solving Quality Management system).

Qualifications:

* Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar degree.

* Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

* Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major)

* Have enrolled student status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.

* Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.

* Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours / week).

* Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.

* MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT

* Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.

* THE WORK TERM DATES ARE August 10th - December 11th, 2026.
