* Design the complete protection system, including rigid components (shell, inserts, protective structures) and soft components (fabrics, foams, stitching, linings).
* Select appropriate materials based on mechanical, aesthetic, tactile, and sustainability requirements.
* Develop concepts, mock-ups, and prototypes in collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers.
* Ensure technical feasibility and manufacturability of the design, supporting industrialization and validation stages.
* Prepare technical documentation, drawings, BOMs, material specifications, and validation reports.
* Lead technical discussions and decision-making across industrial design and DFM teams.
* Lead regular project status meetings and report to senior leadership and stakeholders.
* Interface with suppliers for the development of innovative materials and production processes.
* Collaborate with UX, Product Design, and Hardware Engineering teams to optimize the final user experience.
Main requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred.
* 5+ years of engineering design and project management experience in high-end consumer electronics products, ideally in products that combine soft and hard parts.
* Strong knowledge of soft goods engineering, hard components engineering and related technologies applied on consumer electronics products
* Strong knowledge of soft goods materials: technical fabrics, microfibers, TPU, EVA, foams, laminations, recycled materials.
* Familiarity with the design of rigid components made from plastics, composites, or thermoformed materials.
* Ability to read and generate technical drawings (2D/3D) using CAD software (e.g., Creo, NX, SolidWorks, Rhino).
* Experience with soft goods manufacturing processes such as sewing, thermoforming, heat bonding, and injection molding for rigid parts.
* Understanding of mechanical testing (compression, drop tests), durability evaluation, and material performance.
* Awareness of requirements specific to smart devices: electronic protection, thermal management, accessory integration.
* Strong problem solving abilities.
* Comfortable working in cross functional teams and collaborating with international suppliers.
* Good communication and concept presentation skills.
* Innovative mindset with curiosity for new materials and processes.
* Strong time management, autonomy, and attention to detail.
