Summary
CITRE, located in Seville, Spain, is Bristol Myers Squibb's European research institute and a key link to the European research community.
In Informatics & Predictive Sciences (IPS), we conduct innovative computational research to inform decision-making across all stages of drug development. Our work spans computational and network biology, machine/deep learning, predictive modeling, translational research, and method development for the analysis and interpretation of biological data.
We are seeking a Computational Biologist to join IPS as a Scientist, Translational IPS. The successful candidate will be part of a broad, cross-functional scientific community at the forefront of therapeutic innovation. This role requires computational expertise and a clear motivation to improve outcomes for patients.
The primary objective of the role is to dissect molecular complexity to better understand disease heterogeneity and enable more precise drug development.

Analytical work will focus on exploratory analysis of multi-omics datasets (including WGS, WES, and bulk/single-cell/spatial RNA-seq) and associated meta data, derived from patient samples and ex-vivo models. Responsibilities include predictive modeling, advanced data visualization, and the delivery of impactful analytical insights to our research stakeholders.
In addition to internal collaborations, the role includes engagement with the external scientific community through collaborations, scientific publications, and conference presentations.
This position is well suited to an individual with computational expertise, paired with excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Applications are encouraged from candidates involved in innovative translational oncology research in academic, clinical, or industrial settings.

Key Responsibilities
* Apply computational approaches for patient stratification through the integration of multi-omic datasets.
* Perform analyses to elucidate disease drivers and disease mechanisms in oncology.
* Perform analyses across molecular and multi-omic datasets to support translational strategy.
* Support the identification of ex-vivo models representing key disease subtypes.
* Collaborate with colleagues across IPS to support the identification of therapeutic targets and to inform their development.
* Summarize analytical results and communicate conclusions to BMS decision-making bodies.

Qualifications
* PhD, or MS with 2+ years of experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, statistics, or a related field; experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
* Strong experience with at least one high-level programming language (e.g., R, Python) for complex data analysis and reproducible research.
* Hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing data, including WGS, WES, and RNA-seq (bulk, single-cell, spatial).
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
* Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including data presentation and visualization.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Solid understanding of disease biology and molecular mechanisms, particularly in oncology is a plus.
* Experience applying machine-learning and/or deep-learning methods is a plus.

If you come across a role that intrigues you but doesn't perfectly line up with your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. You could be one step away from work that will transform your life and career.
