The Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) is a member of the World Bank Group (WBG) with a mission to promote direct foreign investment into developing countries to support economic growth, poverty reduction, and sustainable development. Sustainability is a strategic priority for MIGA. Through its Sustainability and Climate teams, MIGA works with clients and project stakeholders to identify, assess, manage, and monitor environmental and social (E S) risks and impacts associated with projects supported by MIGA guarantees. The Environmental and Social Development Intern will support MIGA's E S specialists in the E S due diligence, monitoring, and reporting of projects across industries. The Environmental and Social Development Intern will be based at the MIGA office in Nairobi, Kenya and will be part of the MIGS1 unit. Duties and Responsibilities The E S Development Intern will support the E S team with the following: - E S due diligence (ESDD) of projects including but not limited to: o Preliminary screening of E S risks and impacts of a project, including RepRisk, IBAT, media, and CSO attention/human rights screening; o Inputting into ESDD-related documentation (early screening; Environmental and Social Review Summary and project review committee); o Development and preparation of ESDD materials (questionnaires, agendas, site visit back to office reports); o Expert-specific support (social, biodiversity, labor, occupational health and safety, climate); o Reviewing client-submitted E S documentation for completeness and quality; o Assisting in the preparation of Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs). - Monitoring of Projects: o Reviewing Annual Monitoring Reports (AMRs) and preparing AMR review reports; o Drafting and reviewing self-evaluation reports; o Data analysis and assessment of the E S portfolio, including trend identification and risk flagging; o Assisting in the preparation of portfolio-level reporting on E S performance; - Initiatives: o Development of templates for ESDD and monitoring; o Development of AI prompts and tools for E S-related activities; o Development of the E S handbook for MIGA; o Supporting internal knowledge-sharing sessions or training materials on E S topics for MIGA staff;
