Help us create a better future, quicker
ScottishPower's Smart Metering Department is responsible for delivering a multi-year, multi-million-pound investment in smart meter infrastructure across the UK. The Stock Manager plays a pivotal role in managing the forward logistics of metering assets, ensuring efficient delivery and stock management across Great Britain, as well as overseeing the return of removed assets. This role works closely with Meter Operators and internal teams to keep the supply chain running smoothly and supports the deployment and maintenance of millions of smart meters.

What you'll be doing

You'll take ownership of the end-to-end movement of metering assets, making sure deliveries from third-party warehouses through to Meter Operators run smoothly and on time. And you'll coordinate the return of removed assets with field teams, keeping the process efficient and well controlled. You'll oversee stock takes and reconciliations, ensuring assets are accurately recorded and handled in line with internal controls, while also encouraging simple, effective stock management approaches that reduce risk and unnecessary movement. You'll also produce clear, useful reports on operational performance and look for ways to improve how logistics works day to day.

You'll play a key role in keeping stock levels accurate and aligned with operational demand, working closely with internal teams and Meter Operators to maintain consistent service standards. You'll help manage large volumes of assets within a high-value programme, ensuring they're tracked, safeguarded, and supported throughout their lifecycle. You'll build strong working relationships across teams and make sure processes meet all required safety, quality, and regulatory standards. And you'll support the Logistics Manager with clear reporting and insights, while promoting high standards so that work is delivered accurately, on time, and to expectation.

What you'll bring

You'll bring experience from a logistics, supply chain, or operational environment where you've had real ownership of processes, stock, or service delivery, supported by either a degree or equivalent hands-on experience. And you'll be comfortable working at pace, using strong analytical thinking and attention to detail to understand what the data is telling you, spot trends early, and act before issues arise. You'll have experience managing or supporting complex distribution networks, along with advanced Excel skills that help you turn data into clear, practical insight.

You'll also be confident building relationships across a wide range of teams and external partners, using your communication and influencing skills to keep things aligned and moving forward. And you'll take a customer-focused approach, always looking for ways to improve how things are done and strengthen service delivery. You'll be calm under pressure, able to prioritise effectively to maintain consistent asset flow, and committed to doing things the right way, with a strong awareness of safety, quality, and environmental standards. Experience in the utilities sector or familiarity with metering assets would be helpful, but just as important is your ability to collaborate widely and contribute to a complex, fast-moving programme.

You'll bring either a degree or equivalent practical experience, along with a strong background in logistics, supply chain, or operational roles where you've had exposure to stock control, factory environments, or wider distribution networks. And you'll ideally have experience within a numerate, technical, or business-focused discipline, with a proven track record of managing contracts and supporting effective commercial arrangements. You'll be comfortable working with large volumes of data, using advanced Excel skills, strong analytical thinking, and a high level of attention to detail to identify trends, solve problems, and keep operations running smoothly.
