Internship - Optical Simulations & Medical Imaging (f/m/x)

Your Role

* Perform optical simulations of devices for eye care using optical simulations in Ansys/Zemax (Optic Studio)
* Interact with a modern (object oriented) python framework to automate simulations as well as investigations and visualizations
* Analyze the influence of different optical settings on Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) tomogram images
* Quantify medical image tomograms and relate their variation to influnce of diagnostic quantifications
* Conduct data analysis and image reconstruction using Python
* Prepare technical reports and presentations of simulation results
* Collaborate with optical engineers and researchers on OCT-related projects
* Assist the team with ad-hoc optical simulations and analyses

Your Profile

* Currently studying Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, Biomedical engineering, or a similar field
* Strong knowledge of optics (beyond basics) including geometrical and physical optics
* Experience with optical simulation software, particularly Ansys/Zemax (OpticStudio)
* Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization
* Independent, structured, detail-oriented, and analytical working style
* Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret optical simulation data
* Team player with excellent communication skills
* Very good English language skills (verbal and written); German is a plus
* Willing to work on the topic for 6 months (being enrolled for that time is mandatory)
