Terms of Reference (TOR) for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Traineeship at the World Bank, Colombo, Sri Lanka Office.
Support to the Country Management Unit

Background
The World Bank Sri Lanka country office DEI traineeship program is designed with the aim of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Via this program the World Bank (WB) will be hiring interns from various groups across Sri Lanka that are facing challenges or marginalized due to their ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender or disabilities. These will include eligible candidates from groups that typically aren't widely represented in WB's workforce. Phase 1 of the program will support 3 interns from within the LGBTQ+ community over the course of 2023-2024. The interns will be paired with a team mentor who will also serve as a buddy and mentor throughout the program.
The purpose this traineeship program is to give individuals broad exposure to competencies required for WB openings and create more interest in work in the development sector among wider groups and communities. Via the program the WB Colombo, Sri Lanka office also strives to enhance the Quality of our Workplace by making it more Inclusive and Diverse and also facilitate cross-learning via interaction working with the Intern colleagues on the groups they represent and promote learning for them on development work.

Objective
The objective of this assignment is to provide administrative and operational support to various World Bank teams. The interns will also have the opportunity to learn and get exposure to the development work the WB is engaged in.

Scope of Work
The intern will be paired with a mentor from the Sri Lanka teams Country Management Unit. The intern will support a broad range of administrative and other tasks. The Specific scope of work for each intern will be identified and locked down post hiring. The basic tasks to be carried out will include but not be limited to the following.
Assist in the preparation of schedules, event plans and other such plans as assigned.
Assist coordinate, schedule, and organize meetings, conferences, and other events,
Support teams in basic research, editing and formatting reports, minutes, and correspondence.
Assist in managing documents and record-keeping.
Support teams with logistical tasks such as printing of documents, dispatching letters to clients, communicating with vendors, etc.
Support teams in preparing logistics, correspondence, and coordination for meetings and events.
Learn on-the-job basic communications tasks, including media monitoring, digital communications, communications, editorial calendars, etc.
Assist in updating internal database and maintaining excel sheets as per team needs.
Perform additional tasks assigned by the mentor.

Deliverables
Copies of documents prepared and as agreed per the work plan and tasks with the assigned mentor.

Contract period
Up to 6 months, over the period commencing from the start date of the contract. This program is not a full-time employment and extension of contract is not expected.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum of a high school diploma
Good communication skills
English proficiency, both written and spoken.
Proficiency using Microsoft office application.
General work experience or experience in administrative work is also preferred.
Familiarity with creative digital platforms such as Adobe / Canva / Microsoft Designer will be an added advantage.
