University of Southern California, Los Angeles, United States
Cinematography, Undergraduate, Study abroad program
Overall
I wish I had known...
Sydney is a lot like Southern California in weather, and even more laid back. Wish I had taken more advantage of all the great cultural events Sydney has to offer - opera, restaurants, theatre, concerts - everything a major city has, they have.

Good program, but if you really want to meet AUstralians, I would suggest going through a program that puts you in an AUstralian university. BU has their own classes so you do not get a chance to meet the natives unless you seek them out on your own, outside of school. BU does provide a great internship progarm and will try to find a company in your field for you to intern at. You can really take advantage of this and learn some good skills and make future business contacts, or you can not. It's up to you to make the experience what you want.

Decide what you want - studying in Sydney is great for a city and beach experience. Canberra is a very planned city - not near the beach. Be sure to budget for a trip to Cairns (Great Barrier Reef), Ayers Rock and New Zealand (why not - you're already down there!). Remember the rainy season and that their summer is our winter.

Not really. I liked to learn things through experience. Although I made some research before travelling so I had an idea of where I was going to. Maybe to know that you need time for applying to universities due to the fact that I wanted to finish my studies in the USA.But I have no complains , I'm satisfied with all I did.

To be more concern about the welcome of international students because some of them are not used with english and the environment. But in general it was fine!

To make research of the city and the culture of the country you are planning to go. To be open to experience new things and to remember that it is a different counry and culture so if you expect to do what you were doing at home...stay home! And the most important tip...ENJOY EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

Just be very open and don't give up at the first bad moment. Just think that each day is a different experience that make us stronger.

Personal spending habits
The accommodation in my home country I own it! so I just have to pay the regular taxes. The telephone I spend less because I didnt have the need to make a lot of phone calls, just my family and the local calls where very cheap o free in certain areas. Where I spend more many was in travel because I wanted to visit new cities and to learn more about my host country. And you dont have the opportunity and time to visit another country everyday. Also there was good promotions for travelling so I took advantage of that.
