i spoke french quite well before, i didn't improve that much because there were also lots of exchange students taking part in an english program and the language used among exchange students was mainly english

At the beginning it was hard for me to understand the french people because they speak very quickly. However, I got used to it and at the end I was able to understand them in most situations.

For university purposes it was fairly easy to cope with the language. Though, it was sometimes a barrier in social life, mainly because of the slang among students.

My English improved because of academic experience and communicating with international students. French improved because of everyday life. Spanish improved because i had a lot of spanish and mexican friends there.

it was difficult to speak in french, but after while it started to improve. The problem was the international students - language is English!!!

I took lessons not only at the university but I also participated in a free course organized by the local municipal institute accelerating this way the "adaptation period" of the local culture.
