Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because here, you have your own appartment and that is better for ypur own development. In the Netherlands, I still lived with my parents. In San Sebastian evrything and evrybody is very close to each other so you don't need to go on a campus.

The Basque countryside is really beautiful. When you are a girl, going out is almost completely free. Do not speak about politics with basque people unless you know them well. Don't think they are your friends for ever, they are very family centrated.

It is the best way to integrate into the university life but also into the town itself, so you get the best of both worlds.

I was lucky to get a nice appartment in a nice area close to the university and local amenities. However the rent for my room is quite high copared to some of my friends and what they have. The bills for the electricity are expensive and the heating doesn´t work that well.

In this part of spain, there is also another language "el Vasco", but most of the people spoke th enormal spanish and I learned a lot. There are still peolple here with whom I'm speaking english, but the spanish is getting better and better. You have tot have a bit of discipline, though, to look up words in your diccionary when you don't know them etc.

In SS there is an old part where every student goes out. Every wednesday, we all go to a place called TasTas, because then it is ERASMUSnight. On thursday the same in El Cine. In this place you can danse a bit more. After this, you can go to many other discos. An event not to miss is definitely carnaval in february!

Well, for students, I would say Wednesday nights are student nights at a bar called TAS TAS ad Thursday nights at El Cine. With the university there is always something that they are arranging (day trips, weekend breaks etc)which should not be mised and the salsa classes!!!
