Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
The cheapest way to find a good accomodation. The owner of the room usually let his/her facilities there for you.

International students used to meet in a bar called Locus Publicus, but there are plenty of attractive bars and night clubs.

Final comments
I recommend to see the other Dutch cities. You can travel around by train (you can buy a reduction card for it), and see very different but attractive cities. You can also go to Belgien, France, or Germany, it's not far at all. But don't leave your rain jacket at home!
