As I am taking a double degree in my host university I have to learn Dutch. But, It is necessary to point out that a great deal of dutch speak english.

I have not taken any local language courses eventhough I have been studying for more than two years. it is a difficult language to learn and to speak.

as i am a french speaker, it is a little bit difficult to understand dutch, but most people speak english. So it is alays possible to be understood

official talkings (with professors for exemple) were difficukt at the beginning but ok at the end. With the students, I did not have any problems.

Most of the locals speak english so not knowing Dutch was not a problem at all, which made it harder off course to learn the language, since it was easeir to speak english. At University with the students, english was the main language so for me it wasn't a problem since I speak it fluently.

When the course started was a little bit difficult to maintain a fluent communication, but later with all my fellows speaking almost with the same accent the situation changed notably. About my daily life, in The Netherlands all the people speaks English properly that helped me a lot of.
