Personal comments
Well, in Finland almost everybody speaks English. So there are, in general, no communication problems. I participated in two Finnish language courses but did not really used the language because everybody speaks English. Another thing is that most of the exchange students don't speak Finnish but English and usually you spend most of your time with them.

Personal spending habits
In general, the price level is above that of Germany. Especially imported goods like fresh fruits, etc. are more expensive. Housing costs were slightly higher, but the nightlife and travel expenses were much higher.

Personal recommendation
HSE is a very good business school, has a high international reputation, and offers a lot to its students. The student organization, KY, is excellent and organizes many social events. Each exchange student gets two tutors, who take care of you and help you throughout your stay. HSE is a very good school and I would chose it again if I could.

Final comments
Do as much as you can and participate in all KY events and trips! From Helsinki you can easily go to Tallinn, Sweden, or St. Petersburg. Finland itself is a very beautiful and interesting country with friendly people and many cultural habits! Take your chance and enjoy a very bright and hot summer and a very dark and cold winter.

Academic
Course recommendations
The school offers a wide range of courses held in English in BA and Economics. I also participated in the Information Technology Program (Summer School), which is an excellent opportunity to enjoy IT courses held by international professors and doing a business project.

They offer many possibilities and less or more money. You can also live in a KY students appartment, which is very cheap and nice. However, the scholl organizes the housing for each exchange student, which is very good.

I liked the HUT Tennis Club, which organized many activities throughout the year (also night events). The music festival in the summer, Lapland at any time, and the country life in a cottage should not be missed. Sauna and ice-bathing are a must:) Best cafes / bars: Molly Malones, Theateri, and Wayne's Cafe. But many others are excellent as well! Don't miss to go to Suomenlinna, a small but beautiful Island near Helsinki (15 Min. by boat).
