Personal comments
Personally my lanuage skills improved mostly in a social interaction environment, not in the classroom. I just felt like the outsider there, which I supose I was, but no social interaction with German natives is the only way to go. Get yourself a German boyfriend, worked for me !

I wish I had known...
How wonderful it was going to actually be, then I would have brought more money, no not really everything was pretty more or less explained to us. I didn't like the long classroon hours, I mean 45mts, ut I knew this before I left.

Personal recommendation
Good place to go to, plenty of historical culture and beauty. There is a feeling in Dresden that is somewhat different from anywhere else I have been. Should have more planned social integration for students, they are both fun and educational.

Final comments
Don't think about it just do it, you will love it. Initially it is hard saying goodbye to loved ones and making new friends, but when it comes to leaving and going back home you'll find that you will be twice as upset, but a stringer and more personally developed individual.

No not really, make the ole grant stretch as much as possible. Shop in the cheapest supermarkets, bring back your bottles, you get a "pfand" or refund.
