I spent more than at home simply because I was enjoying an experience. At home, I choose cheaper bars and don't really travel all that often. I had never spent time in Asia and didn't mind paying more to see it.

Lan Kwai Fong is a great place, and there are tons of fun bars and clubs throughout Hong Kong and Kowloon. Guide books are generally right when explaining where the hot spots are.
