Not just for engineers
Natasha W
France, Graduate
Engineering, 2022
Overall
The purpose of the "Grande Ecole" system in France is - on the surface - to produce engineers (or business students) who leave with the equivalent of a 2-year Masters degree. However, the G-INP Institute of Engineering & Management UGA (note new full title) along with all such similar Engineering Schools is mainly concerned with educating France's future elite. Students are prepared from the beginning for Project Leader and higher management roles in industry and research.

Pros
Close contact with industry. Many tutors involved in top-level research. Outside of Paris, Grenoble is one of the main hubs for technology. Great for outdoor life in the mountains
Cons
Too many classes in the week and not enough opportunity to think autonomously. Some students arrive without having reflected upon who they really are and what they would really like to do - might have been better off studying pure science at university!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The fares are hight for private appartements but the french governement pays a part of it (see www.caf.fr) , so it's abordable and it can be even better if you share it with other students!

Personal comments
If you are studying Industrial Engineering at INPG (which is at the center of the city) and not afford to pay an appartement, you should choose to stay at Rabot Campus, it's near the city , it's clean and has a great ambience and a great view. The only inconvenient is that you have to clinb a little bit to the mountain to reach it but buses are going often too. All others schools of INPG are a little bit far from the center, about 20 minutes with the tram and you should choose to stay at the main campus, but not all the dormitories of the campus are renovated and clean...but it remains a cheap solution.

Pépite oZer - statut national d’étudiant-entrepreneur
Gaël B
France,
Management Science, 2024
Overall

Arthur Q
France,
Manufacturing Sciences (including CAD, CAM, CAE), 2023
Overall

Sustainable Industrial Engineering
Noble E
France, Graduate
Engineering, 2021
Overall
This course addresses the issue of sustainability of the industry in three ways: from an environmental point of view, from a social and societal point of view, from an economical point of view.
It is English taught and open to international students. It has a cheaper cost in comparison to some other industrial engineering schools in Europe.

Pros
Opportunity to meet people of varying cultures and nationalities.
Cons
Too many lectures in a week, and some courses are quite difficult for students from non-engineering background. Also, finding the end of study internship, for students with low french levels is very difficult
