The cost of life in Lisbon was smaller as in France. As a consequence the basic expenses for food and accomodation were smaller. I travelled more there because I didn't know the country abd these expenses were bigger.

Sometimes I had difficulty to withdraw money through the Visa bank net. But I had a second way to withdraw money using Postchecks and it helped a lot.

Next to the Instituto you have a place were you can buy second hand books for a few euros. It is not totally legal so you will get the adress over there...
