ITBA was created in 1959 by a group of Navy Officers and professionals from various fields with the purpose of advancing the teaching of engineering in Argentina. The following 5-year-programs are currently taught at ITBA: Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering.
