Personal recommendation
Make the first step towards locals. They are curious about you, but wont necessarily do the first move. They are welcoming, heartful and very good souls.

Final comments
Szeged is ideal for travels! Serbia is one hour away, Romania too. From Budapest (2 1/2hrs) you can go directly to Vienna, Bucarest, Belgrade, Crakow, Split,... by train or bus. Travels within Hungary are very recommended as well, this country is just beautiful - and with a hungarian student ID you travel as cheap as most of you never did before ;)

“a solid academic career in the best University in Hungary”

Hungary,
Political Science, 2023
Overall
my studies have enriched me in many ways: they have provided me with valuable intellectual resources and have allowed me to develop excellent crosscutting skills such as team spirit, the ability to communicate and defend my convictions, as well as a solid political and economic culture at the international level.
I choose study in University of Szeged, because it attracts thousands of young people due to its lively, urban student life and its safe environment. SZTE is usually ranked among the outstanding top 500 universities of the world. According to QS World University Rankings, it is the best Hungarian University in 2020 and it is among 200 best universities of the world in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking.

Personal spending habits
The price level is so much lover!!! The apartment was of a lot higher quality than the on I have in Finland, and the rent was still cheaper. I went out a lot more and travelled more than I do back home, but the costs are so much cheaper than in Finland, that I spend far less money!

Personal comments
I could live with the Finnish government student allowance!!! Including going to party every week, eating out, traveling and shopping!!! Cost-saving tips? If you go to visit Budapest, don't go eating to restaurants in tourist areas. In Szeged, ask advise from the Hungarian students about shops and restaurants. Turn the gas heater off when you are not at home, the gas bill might be quite big if you use the heating carelessly.

Living on a campus ( kollégium) is not possible to foreign students, so basically you have to find an apartment by yourself but help is also available from the people who deal with the foreign students. Every week there is also availabel a magazine called DéliApró which covers almost all the available apartments for rent. You can also keep an eye on the notece boards because there the Hungarian students usually advertise if tehy need a roommmate.

Personal comments
I would have loved to learn more Hungarian, but I had many other things to study and many social activities to do, so I ended up learning just the basics.
I improved my English skills, which were already ok, and for the first time I attended classes taught in Russian, my second language of instruction, which was an experience I really needed and though it wasn't easy, it helped improve - for the first time I was communicating in Russian out of the textbook.
