Housing
Type of housing: Flat
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
For me I had a horrible roommate. It really was luck of the draw, but I tried repeatedly to change rooms to no avail. The WIST dorms are very nice, however I reccomend paying extra for a single room.

Go with the single room. Having a roommate is hard enough when you share a common culture...

I like the independence of having a flat, and it also brings me into contact with other students (if sharing a flat with them).

Most Austrian students live in their own flats, but housing for visiting students is arranged by the Austrian Exchenge Service. There are rooms in flats with fellow students or in a hall of residence. I found the service very good, and everything was arranged for me in plenty of time with little fuss.

The service at the housing office could not have been better: all exchange students were given an accommodation by the office!!! Also the quality level of the accommodation is usually very high.

They give quite a lot of possibilities. There are lot os Studentenheims, as well as flats, etc. That is good.

I would go in an apartment where local people live, because where I lived there were only foreigners as me, and we hardly spoke German. We used to talk in English, as many of them couldn't German. That disappointed me a lot. Second I would like to live in a real house, as the student dorm where I was, was quite similar to the one I live in in Italy, and I'd like to experience something different.

The place where I lived, was awful. But I visited all the other student dormitory in Graz and except for mine and an other one pretty close, the others looked clean, nice and comfortable. It's just a question of old building and the bad aspect was that NO Austrian was living in those awful places, just Erasmus and Balcanian students...

The accommodition at the "Karl-Franzens-Universität" was quite allright, we could use all the computers. The accommodation was actually better than at my home university.
