The Usi-fest for Erasmus students was a legend and very good place to meet other Erasmus students - every friday! Eschenlaube was an Erasmus must for wednesday nights. Flann O'Brien - good food, Stern - personally my favorite, best cosmopolitans in the town, Parkhouse in Stadtpark for the summer months, Kulturhauskeller - funny place if you are there with your friends... And so on, I really could continue this list! If you are in Graz in autumn don't forget to try drink called "Sturm" - it is really stunning...

I lived 8 months with two (male) students and it went surprisingly well but for the last month I moved in to "Erasmus house" which was so much fun!

Course recommendations
First take more courses than you plan to pass so you can later drop the ones you don't like. Oral exams were better for me, because at my home university we have more time to write the exams than in Graz, so I really didn't have enough time to write everything down in German in like 20-30 mins.

At the beginning the local dialect was a bit difficult to understand but I had an Austrian German course at the uni and it became understandable. With the Erasmus students I used only (Erasmus)German - except native English speaking friends but later they wanted to use German as well!

Go to Graz as an Erasmus student - you won't regret it, I promise;) It was really the best year in my life. I enjoyed every moment and best of all, now I have so many very good friends all over Europe. And with couple of them we have even managed to meet after Graz!!!

Personal spending habits
Food was cheaper than in my home country. My flat was actually pretty expensive (330 €), it was only a room in a commune. Nightlife didn't cost so much, because there were hardly any entrance feesh and alcohol was pretty cheap. I spent more mony to travel than home, because Graz is so well located - I visited Venice, Prague, Budapest, Poland, Croatia, Slovenia and travelled across Austria.

I didn't get a "Bankomat card" from Steiermärkisch (don't know why) just a cash card, which I was able to use only in their automats - and it wasn't easy always to find one.. Get a "train card" from ÖBB and you will get some 50 % off from the ticket prices.
