Pretty good location for experiencing Japanese culture, because you can make day trips to all most impressive spots.

The offered dormitories are a bit dirty but the prize is very low. You have all facilities you need. A good place for students.

Final comments
Travelling is fairly easy in Japan. Specially during the off season. Save your extra money, don't over enjoy your night life and you'll have plenty over to go wherever you want.
