Personal comments
Everyone speaks English, so it is actually hard to practice. Because I arrived later than other students to Denmark, they did not let me do the Danish course most students did.

Course recommendations
A lot of the humanities subjects are taught by well knows academics who have a lot to offer, and come from all over the world to teach. Many inspiring professors.

Could encourage interaction between the international students and the local students. I didn't make any Danish friends the whole time I was in Denmark- and not from want of trying!

Personal spending habits
Copenhagen is among the top five most expensive cities to live in in the world. Obviously travel can be quite cheap because Europe is on your door step.

Personal comments
Head to supermarkets like Aldi, Netto and Fakta. Avoid the big ones. A coffee in the city will set you back a lot- try heading out of town a bit to find the smaller, cheaper places.

I wish I had known...
How intraverted the danish people are, and how hard it is to warm up to the culture which surrounds you.

Personal recommendation
They organise a lot of excursions around the city, and have their own student bar for international students, which is also cheap and helps you meet people.Would have liked to have actually met some danish people, but we all felt very segregated from them.

Final comments
I chose this university on a whim without knowing much about it. I wanted a different experience. I think it was more about the people I met and the experiences I had, rather than the place I was in.

Housing
Type of housing: student dorms off campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: dorms
Why?
Because apartments are incredibly expensive, and you get to live with others. ie. not so lonely!

Personal comments
It was so hard for many students to find housing in Copenhagen. I was lucky to be put in a dorm, but there were many who had to rent a room from middle aged singletons whom would not let the stuents use certain parts of the house ie. t.v, coach, cupboards. Was very restrictive.
