in Sweden, everyone, even the lady in the supermarket, speak a pretty good english. so from the beginning, there was no problem to be in contact with people. they also appreciated if someone spoke the local language, so it was worth an effort to study it. I took classes both in English and Swedish, which was also a good way to learn the language

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Besides from there being no other choice, it was really important to get in close contact with the local students.

Personal comments
You live closely with 7 other students in a corridor, share kitchen and a living room. Your own room is fairly big and has shower/WC. Laundry facilities etc are close and for free. Rent is not cheap, but includes everything.

Go to valborg in Uppsala, if you don't know anyone there or/and can't get a ticket for the night still go there it is amazing. Going up north is pretty cheap if you take either a stand-by plane ticket or the train (a bit more expensive, but you see much more). Har det bra Jan-Eric

Try to have all the documents when you arrive, include the housing (if you can't it's not too difficult to rent a house). Carry clothes to suffer a hard weather. Buy a bike as soon as posible. It's better to travel in Spring or in summer.
