Economics finance and international business
Natalia C
United Kingdom,
Financial Management, 2024
Overall
We study the macroeconomics and microeconomics, basic and applied, in the financial area they teach us about financial markets, how to create a portfolio, calculate returns,  analyze stocks  , calculate dividends and make forecasts .
The info is caming from Bloomer room  and we manage the data .
ALso analyze international business and see their evolution and where they are going.
Our teachers are from different countries, from the UK,  European Union or Asia.
We have private consultation hours with our them  to settle doubts.
The classroom is made up of UK and international students who live in the UK or come to take a module as exchange students, the majority are American and German.  The university has facilities such as a gym, a bloomer room, a large library open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

I wish I had known...
Info on university ranking as British are very conservative and the Uni has to have a great name, otherwise you won't find a job. For example-LSE is a must for those who can be accepted and can get funding as the fees are high.

try to get into another university if you want a well paid job-only for those looking for jobs in the UK! If you return home- it is great as teachers are really helpful and there are many people on your level and lower. if you want a challendge-pick another university!

Conference Interpreting MA
Carlo Z
Romania, Graduate
Translation/Interpretation, 2019
Overall
The MA course for Conference Interpreting @ London Metropolitn University is a demanding and intense course that ultimately helps students interested in the secotr to graduate with all the necessary skills required to become an independant professional.

The course modules are designed to prepare you to work as professional conference interpreters on the private market, for commercial organisations or large international institutions. The course also includes a strong reflective element present during interpreting performances such as the mock conferences and language specific tutorials. The dissertation offers the possibility to reflect on personal interpreting performance or research the interpreting field.

It is divided in 7 modules. Conference Interpreting 1, 2 &3 aim to teach students all the basics required for the role of a conference interpreter; from etiquette expected in a high-level political context to techniques for efficient and professional simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. Conference Interpreting EU/UN module aims to teach the students the basic structure of both the EU and UN institutions as well as what is expected of professional interpreters who wish to pass the entrance exams and work for the institutions at an international level. Interpreters Professional Environment module aims to make students self-sufficient in the freelance buisness environment and be prepared to market themselves and their skills effectively, so to grow a netwrok as well as a client base with consistency. The two remaining modules focus on accademic research and help students prepare for the end of course dissertation required to pass the course and recieve the MA diploma.

Overall, my time at the course was wonderful, and I often think back to it as the year during which I learnt the most out of all my formative years. Any student wishing to become a great interpreter would do well to consider this course as it offers much and is taught with passion.
