Course taught in English, which alleviated a lot of the pressure, but it would have been nice to have reinforced my German through study.

When you go to Germany you should know a bit of german, do not go in an adventure... But you dont need to know very much if you have a backup language like english - everybody understands it. You should go a few days earlier and inrole in an intensive course in the university - they are cheap and very good.
