Ludwig Maximilians Universität München (LMU)

Rooms organized by the "Studentenwerk" are very cheap. Normal apartments cost at least the double - however, there are not enough student rooms/apartments. Not even enough for the exchange students. What I found bad was that most student rooms do not have internet connections. Now they are installing LAN's in some Wohnheims, but not in all of them. Where I come from we've had a 10Mbit connections to the university for something like 5 years...

* Kunstpark Ost - about 20 nightclubs at the same place. A must to see, but it's really not soo good. * Atomic Cafe - good nightclub in the city centre. Tip: You have to look "cool" (not necessarily "rich") and bring some girls with to get in! * Alabama park - pay 30 DM, then all drinks are free. Music quite OK - a bit mainstream, but if youre in the right mood... * Beergardens - there are *a lot* of them, and the beer is *really* good. Just stay away from Löwenbrau, it's as bad as any non-München beer. * Oktoberfest - in the end of September. Beer, beer, beer and a fantastic ambience. You can even without problem go there alone, you'll always find someone to drink with. * Englisher Garten - the worlds larges urban garden. Great, just a few hundred meters from the University. * Westpark - more beatiful than Englisher Garten, just not right next the uni.

From Munich you can travel easily to most parts of europe. The alps are onle 1h away by car, and you can get to the Adriatic sea in a few hours...

- eating in the Mensa is quite OK, and very cheap (maximum 6 DM) - eating out several days a week gets very expensive in the long run

Understanding is easy, perfection in written German is really hard...
