Ludwig Maximilians Universität München (LMU)

Well, the insurance fee is quite high and in Germany, you always have to give tips and that was surprising. Cost-saving tips.... there are many grocery stores in Munich such as Rewe, Plus, Tengelmann and Lidl. Lidl is the cheapest though sometimes the quality is bit lower. If you are a student, buy a monthly ticket with which you can use U-Bahn and Bus freely. If you are to travel a lot especially within germany, buy Bahnkarte, this is a card with which people can buy a travel ticket cheaper. You can get additional discount when buying this card if you are a student.

In Muenchen hab ich so schoene Zeit als Programmstudentin verbringt. Als viele auslaendische Studenten nach Muenchen gekommen, um ihre Studium zu machen, konnte ich viele Leute kennenlernen und andere Kultur zu erfahren. Waehrend der Zeit in Muenchen, manchmal war ich einsam, und manchmal war ich gut drauf. Ich glaube ich bin mehr selbstaendig geworden. Falls mir einmal andere Chancen gegeben wuerde, in Muenchen zu leben, moechte ich nach Muenchen zurueckgehen.

Well, there were many courses conducted in English. I guess it was because i major in English Literature. Also, i had no difficulty in everyday life because people in germany seem to be fluent in English, especially students. So in restaurants, clubs, and classes, it had no problem. Nonetheless, there were a few cases in which i had to speak only German and at that time, i struggled a bit. I chose to study in Germany to learn German that i took some courses in German at the university and i also attended extra german course in an institution. Now, i guess my german became a lot better.

Munich university offers many different types of housings to students. In my case, as an exchange student i was to be offered a student dormitory and personally, i'm satisfied with the housing offered my munich university. The location is near to the city center that it was convenient to go to university or to the city center. From the central station it was only 4 stops. Furthermore, the surrounding area was clean, peaceful and safe. I am not sure about the other dorms offered by munich university, but many students seemed to be satisfied with the whole housing system of university.

If you are looking for a place to chil out don't forget to visit 'Kultfabrik' where you can choose many kinds of clubs and bars with various musics and themes. Also, near Olympia Park there is ZHS (Zentrale Hochschul Sport) where as students register many sport programs of a reasonble fee. If you are looking for cafes, there are lots of cafes along the leopoldstrasse until Muenchner Freiheit. Also, near Odeonsplatz there are also many kinds of clubs. For the events, definitely you should go look Octoberfest which lasts for 2 weeks staring on the last week of September!
