I wish I had known...
That people here are really rude, have never met so many rude people in so little time before. And that my course is feels so much like high-school.

Most of the brits in my course doesn't seem to have much problem with the school, but they it's their first year so they don't have nothing else to compare with. Most of the international students that are taking a master degree here share the same view as me. But the price for a master here is quite cheap compare to other big cities. I wouldn't recommend to take a master here for international students unless it's important for you to keep the price low. And it's also not that easy for to get to know the brits, specially the local one. Don't recommend it for postgraduates, but maybe for undergraduates. In short, there are better universities.

Great place for young student who like to party all week. You should come here if you are from a small town, because it's not too big or too scary. If you are a snob from big cities than just stay away from this place. Last, Brits here have a funny way to be polite, they like say thanks when getting of the bus but don't like to smile or help at office services. Only those brits who are over 40 can be witty and have some self-irony.

Not really. I guess I knew everything I needed to know beforehand. You never know everything. But if you want to get infos on Manchester, there are lots of webpages to check out, and your university coordinator will be able to help you, too.

It's not the best university you could choose for academic reasons. But generally, I liked the university, and it was great to have my Erasmus experience there.

Manchester is well-situated, so if you're into travelling, this is your city - whether you're into short trips (to nearby places like Liverpool or the lakes) or into longer ones up to Scotland, for instance. Get informed about possible train or bus discounts at Piccadilly station or the National Express bus station.

Better try to live closer to university, on campus the best. And of course travel around - UK is great place to travel, a lot of places of interest.

Well, it's very windy and the rain is not like in Continental Europe, it's more like drizzle and you need a jacket with a hood and very good waterproof shoes. And the introduction week is especially for Asian students...

Choose your courses very carefully, make use of the career service and become a member of the sport clubs (I was a member of the hiking club and we went for beautiful walks in Wales, the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. It was really amazing!!).

The most important thing is to integrate youself actively and make most of your stay by studying hard, enjoying life and travelling. Take always your dictionary with you and use all types of media to develop your language knowledge. If you travel around, don't miss Edinburgh, York, Bath, Chester and London of course. And it's also very important to stay in groups when you walk home in the middle of the night, because otherwise it's quite dangerous (especially for a woman).

Better if one has arranged almost everything from home, since I was there a bit lost until I could find my place.

Be aware that you will not find a lot of nice English people here. Most of them are very impolite, strange and reserved. I have never seen so many fights in my life and did not experience so much rudeness before.
