Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why?
living in a family gives the opportunity to speak the local language (Russian) all the time, secondly you're joining the family's daily way of living, their culture

i've met quite a lot of students who lived, and this was organised through university, at a student's house, where accomodation was miserable.

Personal comments
Minsk is not really the place to be for night life, the city is not safe for foreigners. But private parties at local's or fellow foreign students homes were fun enough. Also interesting theater-opera-ballet evenings (very cheap!)

Course recommendations
would have been useful to join courses of local students, but on the other hand, that would have been very difficult as well.

Personal comments
you have to take all cash money from home, there are no cash dispensers. on top of this, you have to get the local valuta via the black market, otherwise you get it at a rate at least 2 times as low
