Course recommendations
Getting in your application with approved subjects early will not guarantee you a spot in the class - do not rely on the International Services to enrol you (despite them being the only ones able to) - make enquiries yourself, before you go. The courses are not overly difficult and will remind you of a high school setting.

Keep up with the readings and you'll be fine, the assessment will not require you to huddle away in your room for hours on end.

Personal comments
Language spoken is the same as home, however there were heaps of Australian words they had no clue about and they found it difficult to understand my accent at times.

Travel, travel, travel. Beware that in order to book cheap holidays over the internet, you need an American address on your credit card, otherwise you will have to pay more!

Personal spending habits
Food is extremely expensive, especially if you want something half decent! The housing was rather expensive, and US$15-30 for cover charges into clubs was a little excessive!

There is an agreement with a bank in town that allows Montclair students to set up a bank account free of charge for any withdrawal services etc.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
There aren't very many places to stay apart from on campus housing, so get an application in early to guarantee a place. The apartments are large, with usually 3-4 bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus lounge room and kitchen - what more could you want?!

There is no choice given as to whether you prefer a single or double room, however the double rooms are adequately sized if this is your concern. Though you will generally be placed with other international students, American students will be in the same building. It is only a 15 minute walk to the centre of campus.

Just Jake's is a popular club to head to, there is even a bus from campus that will take everyone there! Apart from here though, head into New York City for the best nightlife around! Homecoming Parade and Football game are definately not to be missed, not to meniton Thanksgiving and Halloween - fully immerse yourself! New York City, only half an hour away, can keep you entertained for your entire exchange.
