Excellent place for an undergrad study, all in all. Some requirements (e.g. sports curriculum) are - hmmm - strange, but overall a balanced program with good teachers.

“National Taiwan University Review”
Milca M
Taiwan,
Engineering, Chemical, 2023
Overall
As an international student, it's going to be a little difficult to adapt to the environment. Not all teachers will be willing to give you extra help outside of their class times, and the teaching methods are very limited. You attend a 3-hour lecture to listen to a professor speak completely in Chinese and just pass the slides, for examinations you are expected to memorize the content rather than understand it.

I recommend Taiwan as a nice intermediary between Chinese and Western cultures. The Taiwanese are extremely polite and hospitable to foreigners.

I speak English fuently, so no problem. Chinese was difficult, but the best way to learn is to enter a country where few people speak english.

Overall
Taiwan still has it's core industry in tech, so EE or CS are the target students. However we B-school students are also competetive, while lacking opportunities in banking and management consulting.
