before the semester started, i attended an EILC (erasmus intensive language course) in Finnish. That was one of my best choices ever! although you have to be there every day, and you have to take an oral and written exam, it is very easy and flexible, not strict at all. great atmosphere, fantastic and enthusiastic teachers. i personally hate the thought about living in a foreign country for half a year and not being able to understand one single word. after the course i am able to speak about myself, understand the things i buy in the supermarket, i know the numbers i can ask directions, buy tickets... extremely helpful! learning the language is a huge step towards understanding a countries culture!

I have had a lot of opportunities to speak english and improve my language skills. Almost everybody in school is speaking english and lectures was also in english. Also outside of school people usualy understand english and in campus most of communication was in english. I think it is the best way how to improve language if you have to speak this language and use it always and everywhere, because nobody understand your mother language.

the biggest plus is that I must use english in everyday life, the biggest disadvantage is that in the same institution are 6 students from the same country, so of cource we speak with each other to our native language & that the language knowledge of some teachers are not so good

finnish language is very hard but the ILPC course helped a lot before my course started. Most people speak some segree of english so you won't be stuck if you can speak a bit of english. even if you think it's not too good.

Before the erasmus experience my english was very very bad.Now is better.My sentences are full of mistakes, but people understand what I want to say. Finnish leanguage is too difficult. I learned only some basic phrases

It's been great to improve my english skills with people from other countries so you realize how many different kind of accents are out there and how difficult to understand some of them are. Regarding finnish, I didnt have as much time as I wanted to learn it, but it's an amazing and really interesting language.
