Food prices in Stockholm are very high. In my home country I live at home with my parents, so there is no rent to pay, while in Stockholm I am living in a student room by myself and thus I have to pay a rent (quite expensive). I have been traveling around Sweden a bit and though flight tickets are much cheaper than in my home country I have traveled more while being in Sweden.

To eat lunch in a restaurant is rather cheap. In the evening, prices are much higher. You can save a lot of money when you don't drink alcohol nor smoke (cigarettes are extremely expensive).

Food and social spending like going out and alcohol is extremely expensive. Theres not much you can really save money on except transportation, when taking the subway and living close to the city, don't buy an unlimited travel pass, just use the 10 or 20 trip cards.

No financial surprises. As nightlife forms part of an exchange program, I recommend every student to "import" alcoholic bevarages, but be aware crossing the Swedish border in Denmark.
