As the course was taught in English, I chose a Dutch class and Dutch Culture class so I could be able to ommunicate in the Netherlands albeit basic Dutch but it made me feel attached to the Netherlands and to understand the history/culture behind the country.

Compared to the UK, some aspects are cheaper in continental Europe such as food and clothing. I spent more on travel to make the most of my time in the Netherlands by travelling around the country and to the neighbouring countries.

The university is a fun and lively place, there are always excursions and trips planned. The classes are short but informative and they are full of different opinions from people from different cultures.

The Netherlands is very flat so travelling by a bike is possible and it is a very dutch thing to do!

Paard Cafe - One of the best places to go if you love live music, there is often bands playing on a Wednesday and Friday night for free. These are new and upcoming bands, the drinks are cheap and the atmosphere is lively!
