The red tape in netherlands is the slow and it is plauged by numerous mistakes. As an international, but still EU student it has taken (still waiting) over 6 months to get my id card. My favorite phrase from the dutch paper pushers is "Let me check with my college"

Gas is expensive, public transportation is very expensive unless you are a dutch student, and banking is only free for dutch students as well. Dont go to post bank it is a joke and takes forever to post deposits or make payents. Whatever you are told be prepared for additional charges that are "normal"

Stay home.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
It needs a lot of improvement in its international program! Not even the moniters for the exams speak english in an english taught program.

During my experience abroad, I ...
(1) Never – (4) A lot
Became familiar with another culture
Met people from other countries
Experienced a change in life
Advanced my studies & career
Final comments
The best thing about the time in Tilburg is meeting other international students. If you like to drink, there is lots of that. But there is high crime here and also lots of vandelism. Be prepared. If you are choosing between Leuven in Belgium, or LSE dont believe the hype and come to tilburg...it will disappoint you.

Academic
Course recommendations
For the IEF program some teachers just dont teach rather they make you read their papers and present on them. Also there is very little assistance for the International student in terms of career or internship placement. Most things are geared towards the dutch students only.

Personal comments
Tilburg Economics program gets its #1 ranking from the # of professors who publish NOT from the quality of the program or its professors. Many of them cannot communicate a positive teaching environment or are partial to dutch speaking students. In some classes even the Professors student assistants are allowed to take their bosses class. Its no suprise that they are graded very high by the professor.
