I used to hang out a little bit like all students at the schools e-pub and the night club Corona, on school campus. But I thought Havana, the cafe below Dragonen Hotel was cute and awesome. You meet lots of people and foreigners and exchange ideas and chats. I made a couple of friends in the cafes and I got used to this Hotel because it provided temporal lodging for me when I arrived Umeå. So, if ever you should be around Umeå, please, check out the cafe below Dragonen Hotel down town. You won't regret a thing.

Try to see as much of Stockholm and Sweden as you can. The service for exchange students at the university is very good. The student association arranges a lot of travelling and sightseeing, just ask them for more details.

CHANGE SYSTEM OF ORGANISING GROUP WORK. CREATE MORE ON CAMPUS JOBS ESPECIALLY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS SO AS TO SUPPLEMENT THE HIGH COST.

To conclude i appreciate the courses and devotedness of the lecturers ,educational aspect is quiet good especially the absence of fees.My main problem with the university is the group work issue and lack of campus jobs for international students especially. I will advice international students to come here and study so that the local community will make it an international enviroment.Education here is good but the weather is too poor,it entails some money to keep yourself warm. Also i strongly advice them to start learning the language immediately they arrive so as to adapt easily especially with having a job.

Fly cheap, with RyanAir to Stockholm. Then it is also possible to take a train and/or bus from Stockholm to Umeå but this takes quite long. Try to book the textbooks you need from the library. Ask a friend to book it after you since you can only keep it two weeks per booking. The courses take 4,5 so two bookings in a row should be enough.

Housing
Type of housing: student flats
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: student flats
Why?
It was perfect. Living together with other students in a suburb full of students (6000) closely located to a big sport centre and just a few minutes from university.

It was good but for freemovers it is harder to get. Exchange students get placements no matter what. For me it took quite long. I shared a emergency-housing appartment with another student for over 3 months.

Personal comments
My overall language and communication experience was pretty good. Although english is not the local language, almost everyone understood and spoke english. This made it very easy for me to communicate and also learn a couple of phrases in the local language. Ocassionally, i had problems when i went to the grocery store but there was always someone to help.
