Alright, it's kind of hard responding to these questions since it is the first ever i've been living on my own. But what i can tell is: Food - cheaper in Spain, but the diversity of products not as good as in France. Telephone - we couldn't get a real contract one, because we weren't staying 18 month. so we had to get used to the prepaid cell phone. Which meant getting used to not call as much as i did back in France since Prepaid cards are really not advantageous. Housing - the prices of rent are cheaper than in France. But compared to a couple of years ago got more higher. Personally we had a 110m² and paid 1200euros per month divided by the 4 of us. It wasn't bad at all. Plus it was located in a great area of Barcelona. Nightlife - obviously cheaper than in France, Paris. Travel - cheaper because gas cost less than in France. And then because in general the standard of living is cheaper. Overall - to me cheaper BUT still spent more than in Paris. I would say honestly aroung 700€ is good to not worry too much about the money.

I spent less on food and overall living expenses during my stay abroad as the cost of living in the host country was generally lower than at home. I spent more on telephone calls as I called family and friends more often being away from home and most of which were international calls. Accomodation whilst reasonably priced cost more abroad, as at home as I lived in the family home not in rented accomodation. I spent less on nightlife and travel as I did not have much social life nor did I travel a lot, only to university, therefore travel expenses were relatively cheap. Overall I spent roughly the same abroad as I did at home. Whilst I saved money in some areas I spent more in others.

in general, spain is regarded as less expencive country than, say, scandinavian countries, but barcelona isn't really that cheap. be prepared of for instance not getting any student discounts on your train/busfares.

folks! everytime you withdraw money from the atm, your local bank will take about 2-3 euros of service fees. i didnt know this. nice surprise. also, if you want to take a language course before venturing to the real classes, be prepared to pay aprox. 200e. a tip: if you are a cinema enthusiast, and have to get your fix of films each week, i suggest that you go to the cinema on monday: it's generally known as the spectator day, when movie ticket will cost you only 4e.

Food is cheaper but you eat out more, hence I spent more or less the same on food.I did'nt have a phone at home, hence lower telephone costs. My rent was cheaper than in Sweden. Nightlife is a lot cheaper than in Sweden but you go out more, spend more time out of the house, than in Sweden, hence I spent more or less the same. I travelled more than I do in Sweden, hence put more moeny on travel.

If you rent a flat, be prepared to pay a deposit of at least two months rent.

I spend less in food here for the food is cheaper, I spend more in telephone for I use my mobil a lot more and I dont have to pay accommodation in my home country. The travel factor is about the same, eventhough I travel less in Iceland and the nightlife is also more or less the same. So over all its the same, for I save alot in some factors but then spend more in others.

vegetables are cheaper in Spain. I travelled more than in Germany, but the costs for buses or trains are lower! The spanish bus system is quite good! accommodation was cheaper, but I lived in a doble room outside the city, compared to the whole situation, it was more expensive, because I'm living in a single apartment in the city of Cologne. Telephone costs depend on your own "addiction".
