An institution where developing your knowledge is truly possible
Juan A
Spain, Graduate
International Relations, 2017
Overall
I spent 5 years of my life in this university. Here I studied a Degree in Asian and African Studies, which allowed me to specialize in the countries of North Africa and learn the Arabic language, while understanding more about politics and sociology to contextualize the information I received about the neighbouring continent. Here I acquired a humanistic, political and social formation that helped me to know and understand one of the many societies that build our world.  All of this led to the desire to study the Master's in International Relations and African Studies at the Autonomous University of Madrid. With this, my attention shifted from North Africa to a larger scale, to an interest in the international system. During this whole process I must say the majority of the teachers were the kind of teachers you cannot forget (I mean it in a good way). They put their best in teaching, in making you develop your inner thoughts so you can handle new situations and be able to question yourself, while finding new answers.

Pros
The good teachers are truly good, and even the bad ones are good at what they do.
Cons
The way subjects are selected for a course. It could always be better

Incentiva la salida de tu zona de comfort
Paula A
Spain, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2025
Overall

If you can, live in the center of the city although the uni is far from the centre. As an Erasmus, you don't have much to go to school and it's better to be close to the city than in the middle of nowhere.

They should not advertise the internship as secureley as they do given the fact that they haven't got a lot of options for students

It is far outside the city. Live in town. Meet as many locals as you can and persevere in making friends.

In large cities young people tend to have a set group of friends so it's often hard to make a group of local friends. You just have to keep trying and talk to everyone you can. Also don't take the easy option of just being with other foreigners all the time.

The quality of courses could have been better. The system at the uni is also a bit omplicated.
