Personal social experience
Personal comments
I personally liked every thing in Madrid and all over Spain in general. I never went out and had a bad time. El Palacio and Joy Eslava were great for ambience and the sheer crowds they attracted, but I really enjoyed going to the small, hidden away places. In Spain a good personality gets you really far and I found it very easy to make friends and meet people everywhere I went.

Madrid has great people, many things to do, and is full of culture. I made some great Spanish friends while there even though I studied only with Americans. Living with a host family was the best experience.

Personal comments
I would say that as much as the academe wants to enhance their standard, western students should arrest their tendency to go lax on their studies. Not everybody is given the opportunity to have a meaningful student life. Theirs is a sought-after thing in developing countries.

It is not easy to get a house where you can use the telephone. I was lucky that where I lived there was a meter and my roomates were trusting.
