Ok good places to meet spanish people are the districts Chueca, Malasana and aroudn Santiago Bernabeu Sol is more a place for tourists
cafes you can find everywhere. Good Tapas Bars are in La Latina. It's a must to visit a Tapas Bar

At home I didnt study spanish, just had a quick course before coming to Spain. In Madrid I cought on quite quickly as I made friends. I love learning languages abroad, because it stays forever with you along with the experience.
