if you want to get around in santander and cantabria a car is really useful, because it is not very populated and public transtport is rather poor.

Travel as much as you can it's so cheap on buses and so easy to find a hostel/pension when you're there. See a lot of the north it's beautiful and don't miss the obvious places such as Madrid and Bercelona!
